JOHNNY V DROPS NEW MIX CD AND IT'S A BANGER! *** December 12, 2010

Johnny V has just completed his new mix cd.  It's a volume 2 of his now classic "In My Own Lane" Hip Hop Reggaeton Blendz mixtape series.  V1 was a smash with Johnny V being recognized as one of the first Dee Jays to fuse the two genres.  His first CD released in 2006 was a huge hit locally and was also able to get some recognition in New York and Philadelphia.  That little buzz turned into a big buzz last Saturday when word got back to them that Johnny had just completed V2.  Orders are rolling in.  One company in Philadelphia already ordered the first 500.  For a local DJ from a small city, not bad.  Look out for his next MIx Cd which will be his rendition of Hip Hop.  Look for it in January 2011.

New radio station to take full advantage of Internet.                                             November 15, 2010

Clear Channel Radio is set to launch their  new MyMix106 station.  This station will allow listeners to have a say in what is played on the station.  Now before you start getting pictures of Terminators running the radio station, the DJs will still be a vital part of the over all radio experience introducing new music, taking your calls and giving out prizes.  Difference is now you can go on to their website and tell them what you want to hear.  Kind of like a "high tech request line" that magically plays the most requested songs on their website.  Read the article from All Access.

CLEAR CHANNEL WISX/PHILADELPHIA has re-branded its Hot AC format to become MIX 106.1 where "You Control The Mix." The new branding comes with a high-tech twist: MIX 106.1 listeners will now have a real-time say in what’s played.

"Branding our station with the “MIX” moniker is the next natural step in our evolution," CLEAR CHANNEL Operations Dir. andMIX 106.1 PD BRIAN CHECK said. "We ’re also introducing new digital technology, 'Listener Driven Radio,' which gives our audience a chance to participate in song selection."

"Mix Control" will offer listeners a chance to influence which song is played next and will be available MONDAY throughFRIDAY from 9a- 5p at the station’s new websitewww.mixphiladelphia.com, which goes live this THURSDAY,NOVEMBER 18th.

Johnny V set to release new mix cd.                             November 2010

"In My Own Lane" Hip Hop/Reggaeton Blendz V2.  That is the title of the new mix cd set to drop in early December 2010.  The second CD in the groundbreaking Mix CD series,  is a mix of some of the hottest beats in Hip Hop today remixed with Acapellas from todays hottest Reggaeton (Latin) artist.

Dj Johnny V is one of the first DJs to take Hip Hop and Reggaeton, a form of Latin Hip Hop and RnB, combine the two genres and create a Mix CD series.  Starting with V1 back in 2006, Johnny had everyone banging this CD from PA to New York to Connecticut.  The CD sold so fast  CD pressers in other cities were hired to press and distribute the now classic V1.  Since then Johnny V has been busy working on Urban radio, producing and creating his own music TV show called JVLIVE.  You can see more about JVLive at http://www.jvlive.com/  You can also catch Johnny V rocking his weekly radio mix show "Real Radio" on Saturdays at 4pm on WXAC 91.3 FM. http://wxac.squarespace.com/jonny-v/

Finally having the time to get back in the studio and produce V2 has been nothing less then spectacular.  The new mix cd combines Hip Hop beats from Rick Ross, Wiz Khalifa, Swizz Beats and every other hot beat that came out in 2010, combine that with the top Reggaeton artist in the world like Ivy Queen, Hector El Father, Tito El Bombino, Don Omar, Alexis y Fido and you come out with another Classic Mix Cd.

The future of Djing?  This turntable technology is not far away.                   July 23, 2009

Usher introduces the next big R&B sensation?                      July 28, 2009

Usher is in the video, so are a bunch of hot chicks and the typical house party scene you would expect from an R&B video.  Now you can look at this video and think two things.  Either you get mad because they are maybe, trying to find Chirs Brown's replacement?  Or you think this is just Usher's attempt at cashing in on the tween scene.  Usher, I ain't mad at yah!  Especially in this economy!  The positive side? the boy got skills. Usher wouldn't put his stamp on it if he didn't  right?  Well incase you haven't seen the video it's right here.  Check it out and you be the judge. Who knows maybe we'll play it on JVLIVE!.

Johnny V not eligible for Philly Hip Hop Awards.             July 10, 2009

Nominated doesn't exactly mean you're in.  Johnny V was thought to be a sure winner in the Philadelphia Hip Hop Awards this year.  As of April he was ranked number 1 Urban as afternoon drive host on WUSL Power 99 FM, and number 3 overall beating even Classic Rock stations WMMR and WYSP.  Johnny V was nominated and won the Radio Personality of The Year Award and  the coveted Pioneer Award in the 2009 Central Pa Hip Hop Awards held in Harrisburg Pa.  It is because he won the CPAHH Awards he is not eligible to be nominated or win the Philly Hip Hop Awards.  To the surprise of all the people who flocked to the web site to cast their vote for the rising radio "jockstar".  "I'm not upset by this at all, to be nominated was an awards in itself, hopefully I can continue the success I've been having and maybe next year I can be nominated and maybe even win." Johnny has always been modest.  You wouldn't think that behind this well mannered sometimes soft spoken person lied an exciting, energetic and very experienced dj and radio jock that has a way to reach the masses and keep them listening.  See you next year Johnny V.

"LIVE MIX SHOW" BACKS UP PHONE LINES.                June 7, 2009

The first edition of Real Radio "The Live Mix Show" on Saturday June 6 at 4pm on 91.3 FM caused a little , well Real Radio MANIA! The phones began ringing as soon as DJ JOHNNY V started mixing and shouting out the number. Within the first 30 minutes of the show, the phone lines started to back up and as a security measure, started to default to the security office. Instead of getting the request line they were getting the Security Desk. Not knowing why, the security came in to investigate and realized........OH NO WONDER JOHNNY V IS BACK!! "Something about Johnny's show that people just can't get enough of, I wish I could bottle it" said one listener I interviewed. "I've never seen anything like it" said the security guard. I must agree, I heard the show, I loved the show, and I want to hear more of the show. I guess I will have to wait til next Saturday at 4 o'clock to hear "Real Radio". Radio Forecast To Decline 15% In 2009
by Erik Sass, Thursday, June 4, 2009, 9:43 PM
radio down arrowThe downturn in traditional media has been worse than expected in 2009, forcing analysts to repeatedly revise their already gloomy predictions. In the latest downward revision, BIA Advisory Services said in its recent "Investing in Radio Market Report" that it is forecasting a 15% drop in radio revenues in 2009, to just $14 billion. That's a decrease of over 4% from its March forecast of a 10.6% decline, to about $15 billion.

The new forecast was prompted by continuing weakness in demand for radio advertising in the second quarter, following a 24% drop in total radio ad revenues in the first quarter and a 9% drop in full-year 2008, according to the Radio Advertising Bureau. In fact, the new BIA forecast actually implies a mutedly optimistic outlook for the rest of 2009: to counteract the 24% drop in the first quarter and produce an annual decline of 15%, declines in the three following quarters would have to average no more than 12%.

Indeed, BIA Vice President Mark Fratrik was hopeful that the economy in general and the advertising market in particular may have bottomed out, heralding an eventual recovery. While praising the radio industry's ability to adapt, Fratrik was cautious in his choice of words about the potential rebound in ad demand: "Facing this calamitous situation, radio has shown agility by adjusting its programming and how it's delivered, and listeners are responding. These adjustments could translate into a viable way of attracting advertisers..."

According to BIA, beneficial changes include adoption of new formats, like "all news" -- which make radio better-positioned to carry programming over multiple platforms, including the Web and mobile. Here BIA pointed to the popularity of smart phone "apps" that enable delivery of streaming digital radio to handsets. Michael Boland, the program director for mobile local media for BIA's The Kelsey Group, noted that "this move represents an opportunity to target different demographics of mobile users and gain incremental listeners, especially among younger groups."

BIA isn't the only industry watcher to revise its 2009 forecast for radio downwards. Wachovia analyst Marci Ryvicker said in April that the company was putting its broadcast revenue predictions for the rest of the year under review. She added that revenue data "is incrementally negative and leads us to believe that the local ad environment continues to deteriorate." Originally, Ryvicker had forecast a 13% drop in radio revenue in 2009.
